Description
Speech is an important element in human life and family life. Words can create good outcomes, but they can also create harm. If a person carries positive energy within them, that positive energy is expressed through their speech. On the other hand, if someone carries negative energy, that negativity is reflected in their words.
Because of this, it is often observed in real life that certain people’s words seem to take effect or come true. Likewise, a person with malicious intentions may trap others in trouble through clever manipulation of words.
Just as speech can build relationships, it can also destroy them. Some people constantly taunt or criticize others without stopping. It becomes unbearable, yet those harsh words must still be endured. Creating conflict within the household through speech is a very common occurrence.
Many people also have enemies in their lives who make their lives miserable. Such enemies often shower others with insulting or abusive words. Similarly, in court cases during hearings, the opposing side may speak falsely in order to win.
Therefore, to maintain peace in family and society, it sometimes becomes necessary to restrain the person whose speech is creating disturbance. In Tantra, the act of stopping or restraining someone’s speech is called Vakya Stambhan (speech immobilization).
Through the practice of Vakya Stambhan, peace can be established within a family. It can also stop someone at the workplace who constantly speaks harshly. Furthermore, it is believed that the speech of enemies or opposing parties in court can also be restrained. In essence, it is said that a person’s speech can be completely stopped through this practice. Once restrained, the person may no longer be able to speak properly, may begin to mumble, and eventually may become almost mute.
