It refers to a concept in Vedic astrology where problems in a person’s life are believed to arise due to unsettled karma or issues from ancestors, especially paternal lineage. It is often associated with the belief that ancestors are not at peace.
Pitru Dosha refers to the negative karmic debts of ancestors or injustices committed by an individual towards their parents, which bring obstacles and problems into the lives of their descendants. It also occurs when ancestors are displeased due to insufficient rituals, disrespect, or unfulfilled desires.
Additionally, the curse of a father or father-like figure in a previous life is considered Pitru Dosha. This Dosha (flaw) is not limited to the immediate previous life; it may arise from wrongdoings in several past lives. Pitru Dosha usually yields inauspicious results in the fifth house of a horoscope. Since the fifth house relates to progeny and children’s happiness, this Dosha primarily affects matters concerning children.

In a birth chart, if Venus (Shukra), Mercury (Budha), or Rahu are positioned in the 5th, 9th, or 12th house, the person is considered afflicted by Pitru Dosha.
If ancestors have committed any wrongful acts, their debt falls upon the descendants. Meaning, you are bound to repay the karmic debt of your forefathers. Until this debt is settled, generations continue to suffer from Pitru Dosha, facing various life challenges. The Lal Kitab (a classical astrological text) mentions ten types of Pitru Dosha:
Types of Ancestral Debts (Pitru Rin):
1. Debt from Ancestors:
If any deceased ancestor committed injustices, it leaves a karmic debt (Pitru Rin) upon descendants. Until this debt is repaid, life remains entangled in Pitru Dosha, obstructing all endeavors, love relationships, and even nullifying beneficial yogas like Raj Yoga.
2. Debt from the Father:
Arises if ancestors oppressed Brahmins or destroyed temples. Cutting down sacred Peepal (Ashvattha) trees also causes this Dosha in the horoscope.
3. Debt from Self:
Created if an ancestor rejected familial or social customs. This makes the family environment perpetually tense.
4. Maternal Lineage Debt:
If an ancestor disrespected his mother, this Dosha appears in the horoscope, forcing descendants to live in unhygienic or degraded surroundings.
5. Spouse’s Debt:
If an ancestor tortured or killed a pregnant woman, this Dosha afflicts the lineage.
6. Relative’s Debt:
If an ancestor set fire to someone’s home or fields, descendants face the effects of this Dosha, often being excluded from family celebrations.
7. Daughter’s Debt:
Arises if an ancestor oppressed or killed a daughter or sister, leaving this curse in the family horoscope.
8. Malicious Debt:
Occurs if ancestors cheated, assaulted, or murdered someone.
9. Unborn Debt:
Caused when an ancestor deceived his in-laws or played a role in destroying someone’s family.
10. Natural Debt:
Happens if ancestors killed or tortured helpless animals like dogs.
Effects of Pitru Dosha:
1. Critical work fails frequently, leading to physical and mental ailments. Children may suffer from health issues.
2. In homes afflicted by Pitru Dosha, expenses far exceed income, creating a constant shortage of money and recurring debts. Families struggle financially despite efforts.
3. Frequent disagreements among family members lead to conflicts and even fights.
4. Delays and obstacles in children’s marriage are common; wedding plans often get canceled repeatedly.
5. Affected family members lose interest in worship, experience nightmares, and see delayed results from any spiritual practices. Life becomes mediocre.
6. Unnecessary mental distress persists despite great efforts, and peace remains elusive. Family growth gets blocked.
7. Frequent illnesses plague the family, leading to physical, mental, and financial difficulties. Money drains away without reason.
8. Descendants may dream of ancestors demanding food or clothing, often symbolized by snakes appearing in dreams.
9. Social reputation deteriorates. The afflicted individual may face imprisonment due to severe karmic backlash.
10. Pitru Dosha in the horoscope can cause untimely or mysterious deaths (suicide, accident, murder).
11. Unwanted individuals may enter your life and create chaos. All attempts to remove them fail.
12. Pitru Dosha nullifies auspicious yogas and obstructs all progress.
Remedies for Pitru Dosha:
Pitru Dosha can be alleviated using a Siddha Pitru Dosha Nivaran Yantra (energized ancestral curse removal talisman) along with certain rituals.
Benefits of Using the Siddha Pitru Dosha Nivaran Yantra:
